release by the Tour de la Montérégie
April 26, 2014 (Quebec) – The Tour de la Montérégie (TDLM) today presented the second stage of the championship 2014 Elite-Pro won by Ontario’s Adam Jamieson ( NCCH / DEC Express ) with second place going to Jean- Sébastien Perron (Stevens- Cyclery) and William Goodfellow (Silber Pro Cycling) taking 3rd.

The Grand Prix de Beauharnois featured a criterium with two intermediate sprints to obtain points in the overall  TDLM standings. Very early after the first intermediate sprint a quartet formed with the three podium winners and Maritime rider, Stephen Keeping (Transport Lacombe- Devinci ). With two laps to go, Jamieson attacked gaining a 6-second gap which he maintained to the end and thus deprived Perron who won this event in 2013.

With their performance at the intermediate sprints, Jamieson and Perron are now tied in the overall standings with 270 points. “I played my cards and I believed in the move until the end,” said the winner of the day. Note that Yohan Patry (Transport Lacombe- Devinci), leader of the standings at the start of the race, finished 32nd in the bunch.

Tomorrow Sunday, April 27 will see the third stage, the Grand Prix IGA Sainte-Martine, also including other categories. The Pro-Elite women promise a race filled with action. “My victory in Contrecoeur is my first in Québec. Sainte-Martine we will defend the jersey and race aggressively remain in control,” said Alberta’s Kirsty Lay (SAS- Mazda), the leader of the general classification. Despite her young age she is used to defending the leader’s jersey as she did at the 2013 Banff Bike Fest. She also participated in the 2013 Track World Championships with the Canadian team.
