June 22, 2007 – Roger Legeay, general manager of the Credit Agricole pro team, announced that the major French bank will end its cycling team sponsorship in late 2008 according to the Belgian website, Le Vif. Credit Agricole has sponsored a cycling team since 1998.
A press release issued by the bank simply indicates that “Credit Agricole has decided to re-orientate its sport partnership policies.” Legeay explained that it’s normal for a cycling team to either be at the end or the beginning of a sponsorship program.
He also indicated that he’s pleased to have a year-and-a-half to find another title sponsor. He also thanked Credit Agricole ten years of tremendous confidence in his team.
Apart from managing the Credit Agricole team, Legeay is an advisor to the Montreal-based Calyon/Litespeed team.
