Coupe des Nations Abitibi 2008 – Stage 3 Report, Full Results, Photos – Canada’s Huemmer 6th

August 1, 2008 (Amos, QC) – Not surprisingly, American Nathan Brown of Hot Tubes Development beat out all his rivals on Saturday by seconds to win the individual time trials in Amos, the third stage of the Coupe des Nations Abitibi 2008. Brown covered the 17.7km between St. Maurice de Dalquier and Amos in 22 minutes 51 seconds. His victory earned him the brown leader’s jersey and the orange points jersey as well due to his performance during the sprints in the first stage of the route. Recently Brown placed 12th position at the 2008 Junior World Road Champoinship time trials.

Two other Americans, Andrew Barker and Adam Leibovitz, captured the second and third places both covering the course in 23 minutes 3 seconds. The intermittent rain did not stop Amos fans from coming out to line the course in order to cheer on all the cyclists, especially the hometown favourite, Pierrick Naud.

The final and longest stage (118.2 km) of the North American segment of the Coupe des Nations will commence at 3 p.m. EDT on Sunday between Senneterre and Val d’Or. Then the riders can take advantage of a well-earned rest, especially those who competed in the back-to-back events in Val-d’Or — the Tour de l’Abitibi and the Coupe des Nations.
