Cory Lange Wins in Korea

June 22, 2004 – The Canadian Cycling Association would like to congratulate
Cory Lange (24, from Victoria, B.C.) of the Marco Polo Cycling Team for his
victory in the overall classification of the Tour of Korea, a UCI 2.5 stage
race.

Lange’s win follows on a string of successes for Canadian male road cyclists
in the last few weeks: Charles Dionne won Stage 3 of the Grand Prix Cycliste
de Beauce on June 17 after finishing second on Stage 1; Gord Fraser finished
third June 6 in the Wachovia USPRO Championship in Philadelphia after taking
second in the Wachovia Classic on June 3, and was third again in Stage three
of Beauce; Michael Barry was eighth in the Wachovia Invitational on June 1
and is currently sitting on a top-30 placing in the Vuelta a Cataluña in
Spain; and Dominique Perras, Mark Walters and Eric Wohlberg are all riding
as strongly and consistenly as ever.

Canadian road women have also been very successful over the last three
weeks: Lyne Bessette won the Nature Valley Grand Prix; Geneviève Jeanson won
the Montreal World Cup; Laura Yoisten of the Canadian women’s development
team was sixth in Stage 1b of the Tour de Grand Montreal, third in Stage 3,
and fifth in the Liberty Classic in Philadelphia; Gina Grain finished second
in Philadelphia; Audrey Lemieux showed she is well on the way to becoming a
star; and Anne Samplonius, Sue Palmer-Komar and Manon Jutras continue to
impress with their solid riding.

Congratulations to all of the athletes who contributed to these successes.
