Contador Debuts New Custom Specialized Tarmac SL3 Frame at Vuelta Castilla E Leon

release by Specialized

April 14, 2010 (Morgan Hill, CA) – Alberto Contador will ride his new custom-painted Specialized Tarmac SL3 for the first time in the Vuelta a Castilla y Leon, which begins Wednesday. He proudly debuted the bike today after arriving in Burgos, Spain for the start of the event.

Paying tribute to his greatest accomplishments, Specialized worked with Contador to design the frame featuring a variety of red, pink and yellow highlights, representing his three most cherished triumphs.

“The idea of the design is to celebrate my three “Triple Crown” victories, with the yellow of the Tour, the pink of the Giro, and the red [new this year] of the Vuelta,” Contador beamed as he held up his new steed. “It is an aggressive design, personalized, and I like it a lot.”

Custom frames with their own unique paint jobs will also be designed for Saxo Bank’s Fabian Cancellara, as well as Frank and Andy Schleck. The athletes will debut their new bikes at future races this summer.

Replicas of these frames will be sold in limited quantities this summer at Specialized S-Works dealers, giving diehard fans the chance to own the ultimate souvenir.
