Congratulations For London Velodrome Initiative

December 28, 2004 – The Canadian Cycling Association would like to congratulate Rob Good and Albert Coulier for their success in getting the London, Ontario, indoor velodrome project off the ground.

The CCA firmly believes that this kind of facility is essential to the future growth of the sport, and we can only hope that this is only the first of many similar projects to reach fruition. As the old Olympic velodrome in Montreal proved, an indoor track in a large population base is an ideal way of initiating large numbers of people to the sport of cycling, and we hope to see similar success in London. For more information on the project please visit www.ontariocycling.org.

Please note that the London project is only one of many ongoing projects, including the Delhi resurfacing project in Ontario; proposed tracks in Mississauga, Ontario, Montreal and Quebec City, as well as B.C.’s Burnaby Velodrome Club’s success in securing an infrastructure grant to upgrade its facilities.
