March 27, 2013 – The (COC) will be sending two Canadian representatives from the education sector to Olympia, Greece to attend the 10th International Session for Educators and Officials of Higher Institutes of Physical Education at the International Olympic Academy (IOA).
The IOA unites some of the world’s most vibrant leaders in sport and physical education from approximately 100 nations. The session will take place from July 21 – 28, 2013 and will focus on Olympic Legacy with a special look at the cultural and social dimensions of the Olympic Games.
“Applicants must possess an understanding of Olympism and have experience within the promotion of the Olympic movement in Canada,” said Canadian Olympic Committee CEO and Secretary General, Christopher Overholt. “Ideal candidates will exhibit leadership, knowledge and enthusiasm for the Olympic movement and be able to transfer this knowledge to Canadian students.”
Successful applicants will need a strong background in physical education and kinesiology and demonstrate their plan to transfer the session findings to their students and be proficient in social media channels providing updates and acting as online ambassadors for the promotion of Olympism in Canada.
