by pedalmag.com
March 25, 2012 (Toronto, ON) – Top Canadian rider, Clara Hughes, will be speaking at Roy Thomson Hall on March 26 at 7:30pm as part of the Unique Lives and Experiences women’s lecture series presented by Let’s Talk Entertainment. Hughes is one of the biggest stories in Canadian sports as the only athlete in history to win medals in both cycling at the 1996 Olympic Summer Games and in speed skating at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.

Hughes came out of retirement last year and is now riding for the new Specialized-lululemon women’s cycling team, and is one of Canada’s top contenders for the upcoming London 2012 Olympic Games. She is an Officer of the Order of Canada and was recently inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame.

Many don’t realize that Hughes has battled deep depression to get where she is today, and in making her story public she has created a more open dialogue for Canadians suffering from mental illness.

Unique Lives & Experiences is bringing some of the most dynamic and influential speakers to Roy Thomson Hall for their 20th exciting season of talk theatre entertainment.
