December 20, 2012 – Canada’s Clara Hughes was recently included on CBC’s 10 Most Influential Figures in Sport in 2012 List. Hughes won Olympic medals at both Summer and Winter Games for cycling and speed skating and is an active advocate for the Right to Play organization. She was recognized in ninth spot on the list for both her athletic and humanitarian achievements. The top spots on the list were dominated by professional hockey and baseball personalities – check out the full list HERE.

Aside from this, The Financial Post earlier this month listed Hughes among the Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada. The Post also notes that Hughes is a star on the Canadian Walk of Fame, her induction into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame, and her being named an Officer of the Order of Canada. Hughes has been bestowed honorary doctorates from the University of British Columbia and the University of Manitoba.
