October 21, 2006 – Clara Hughes was recently awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree by the University of Manitoba as a result of her distinguished achievements and contributions. Earlier this year Hughes was recognized with the Order of Manitoba.

Huges is the only Canadian ever and only the fourth Olympian in the world to win medals at both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. In additions she is the only athlete in history to win multiple medals at both the Winter and Summer Olympics.
