February 4, 2011 – Gripped Films is pleased to announce it’s new feature film “Chasing Legends” screened to almost 6,000 people February 2nd across all of Canada. Over 50 cities saw both die-hard cycling fans and movie-goers alike attending the show.
Having premiered to rave reviews Chasing Legends will certainly carry the torch of award-winning cinematography and story telling that is the calling card of Gripped. This is the third documentary from the gritty independent studio and focuses on the toughest and most celebrated sporting event in the world – the Tour de France. Steeped in history, legend and lore the film pays tribute to the legends of yesterday while emphasizing the tenacity of the sports most prolific heros today and includes commentary from Lance Armstrong, Eddy Merckx, Mark Cavendish and George Hincapie. Using never before seen footage from inside the peloton and a stunning array of HD cameras mounted on bikes, cars, helicopters and helmets, Chasing Legends takes viewers on a ride that doesn’t let up until the credits roll. At it’s backbone is a heartfelt narrative story told by the athletes and announcers who bring this epic and daunting race to life on the canvas of France each July.

Independently made on a shoe-string budget, Chasing Legends has been winning over audiences and wowing critics since the World Premiere during the Tour of California in May. 90% of the one night screening events have sold out. Written, directed and edited by self-taught film maker Jason Berry the movie has been hailed as a “Brilliant Success” by one of the most iconic figures in pro cycling, commentator Phil Liggett. After years as a creative director in the advertising world, Berry has applied his ability to hold an audience, added a touching flair for telling dramatic and heart-felt stories of human achievement and added the powerful ingredient of a fully orchestrated soundtrack composed by Haik Naltchayan. Mastered in 5.1 surround Chasing Legends is the first high definition documentary on the Tour de France and promises 94 minutes filled with passion, grit and glory.
