September 27, 2002 – The Road Worlds 2002 are closing in. Charly Mottet, technical deputy of the UCI, will arrive on Monday, 30th September. Together with Albert Palmers, Alderman of Public Works of the Heusden-Zolder municipality, he will thoroughly inspect the different World Championships' courses.

120 Lavatories
The organisation will install some 120 lavatories around the course for the spectators and guests. Twenty of these lavatories will be fitted out for disabled. A sanitation service will ensure that everything remains clean.

96 Traffic Signs
In order to ensure a smooth stream of the traffic in the direction of Circuit Zoldert, 96 traffic signs will be installed on the highways leading to the World Championships at and around Circuit Zolder. From Bekkevoort, Midden-Limburg, Diepenbeek-Hasselt and Tessenderlo, cars will be directed to special parking places. A total of 400 buses will be awaiting spectators, to bring them from the parking lots to the course.

Road Worlds Organization Sign Environmental Charter
On October 2nd, Circuit Zolder will finalize an Environmental Charter with the local authorities of the City of Hasselt and the Heusden-Zolder town, the host locations of the 2002 Road World Championships. By signing this charter, the organizer commits to stage the event in an environmental-friendly, ecological manner. In particular, attention will be paid to managing garbage and dealing with litter by banning the distribution of flyers. In addition, to ease congestion, special efforts have been made to promote the use of the public transport, shuttle buses will operate from organised parking lots and bicycle traffic will be stimulated by providing guarded bicycle sheds. The official signing of the Charter will take place on October 2nd, at 10.30 a.m. in the Business Club (Ontvangstcentrum) of Circuit Zolder.
