Chantale Philie Appointed FQSC Technical Director of New Cycling for All Sector

release by the FQSC

November 22, 2012 (Montreal, QC) – The Fédération québécoise des sports cyclists (FQSC) is pleased to announce that Chantale Philie has been hired as technical director of the new Cycling for All sector effective December 3.

It is a double homecoming for the Quebecer who spent the last four years in Switzerland, where she served as the UCI coordinator for the Para-cycling. In addition to returning home, she is returning to the FQSC, where she previously worked as technical director BMX and para-cycling. Philie has worked with sports federations since 1998.

“It is a real pleasure to get reacquainted with the team at the FQSC and see the trust of this community has toward me,” she said. “I will make every effort to meet the expectations and goals of this new sector.”

The Cycling For All experienced significant growth in recent years, as evidenced by the number of organizers staging recreational cycling events in Quebec and elsewhere. Cycling in all of its forms is also becoming increasingly popular.

“This is a job that suits me and all the experiences I have accumulated in the cycling… so I am well prepared,” she added.

The new director’s responsibilities include managing the schedule of recreational cycling events, as well as being in charge of bicycle safety including the presence of the FQSC at Quebec road safety forums. One of her main tasks will be the coordination of major events where FQSC is a partner, developing a joint action plan with cycling clubs and the implementation of measures promoting safe cycling.

“I want to contribute to the evolution, development and promotion of this booming sector. Obviously there will be many things to do, many projects to develop and develop initiatives to implement, but it is a wonderful challenge for me,” Philie stated.

“The FQSC is very happy with the return of Chantale Philie to its organization. She already knows the FQSC having worked here previously for three years and the experience she gained at the UCI is an undeniable advantage working with Cycling For All,” commented FQSC Director General, Louis Barbeau.
