Released to retailers today, the new P2 is more rider-friendly than ever, with a wider range of fit options for triathletes. It features the new P-Series geometry, including sizes ranging from 45cm (650c wheels) and 48 to 61 (700c wheels), providing a broader range of fit. Details include a Cervélo carbon, aero, rail-adjust seat post with ~75mm of fore/aft adjustment, speced with the widely adjustable Profile Design T2 Wing base bar and T4 Plus aero bar and a 1 1/8″ steerer which allows for a wide range of after market cockpit options. All of these fit options will allow the athlete to get set up quickly and dialed in for maximum results for their time in the saddle.
The new P2 has integrated storage and hydration options including top and down tube accessory mount bosses and an integrated seatpost accessory receiver. Knowing that triathletes are loyal to the brands that they use, these details have been shared with aftermarket manufacturers to help them develop better-functioning products.
True to its heritage, the new P2 boasts a number of advanced Cervélo aerodynamic features, many borrowed from its top-of-the-line P5 model. These include aero cable management, a dropped down tube that reduces the gap between it and the front wheel, flattened down tube mounts to decrease wind drag on bottles, and an extended seat tube cutout design that more effectively shields the rear wheel.
The new P2 is both stiffer and flat-out faster than the classic version, with no increase in weight. Head tube stiffness increases by 16.4% and bottom bracket by 6.5. The new bike also features the company’s open-standard BBright asymmetric bottom bracket design that significantly improves overall system stiffness.
” What is really great about the new P2 is how many technologies are crammed into such a value-oriented platform. I think it’s great that someone can walk into a bike shop and buy a really affordable bike and feel just as special as someone who bought a P5,” says Cervélo’s Sr. Product Manager Heather Henderson.
The new P2 comes speced with Shimano 105 and is available for shipment to retailers now in all sizes.
