Centurion Cycling Comes to Canada – Sept. 18-19

release by Centurion Cycling

April 22, 2010 (Blue Mountains, ON) — North American Sports, the people who created the Subaru Triathlon Series and eight Ironman events in the U.S. and Canada, are excited to officially announce the newest endurance sports phenomenon to come to Ontario – Centurion Canada presented by Cervelo.

The inaugural Centurion Canada will take place September 18-19, 2010, starting and finishing at Blue Mountain Resort, in the township of Blue Mountains, Ontario. This all-inclusive mass-start cycling event will include 25, 50 and 100-mile routes that take in the rolling and scenic roads of the legendary Niagara Escarpment.

Blue Mountain, a supporter of active living and adventure based events, is ready to host the Centurion Cycling Series. “Blue Mountain Resort looks forward to inviting the cycling community to our region. We welcome Centurion cyclists, event organizers and enthusiasts to enjoy stunning vistas of the area and its exhilarating varied terrain; paired with the comforts of our resort’s renowned hospitality, entertainment and some of Ontario’s finest recreation.” said Paul Pinchbeck, Director of Marketing, Blue Mountain Resort.

Centurion’s ability-based seeding process, broad range of age-based categories, and multiple distance options encourage serious racers, less-competitive riders, and families alike to embrace this new challenge. The 25-mile event will be more family friendly, but also provide an outlet for riders who favor speed over distance, or those who want to tune up the legs ahead of the longer rides. Detailed maps of all three courses, registration information and much more information are available at www.centurioncycling.com.

Precise computer-chip timing will determine exact finish times — and the winners of an expansive prize list. But no matter what distance is chosen, or how long it takes to complete, riders will be greeted by a sprawling finish-line festival complete with food and drink, live entertainment and an expansive vendor expo.

NA Sports founder and Centurion CEO, Graham Fraser’s vision for the event has two primary goals with the event, “We want to offer an opportunity for everyone to enjoy cycling, with their family, friends and colleagues. Through our NA Sports charitable foundation we will continue our history of helping community organizations and sport for youth. We will be working charitable partners including Companions in Courage, Pat Lafontaine’s charitable foundation; the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America and the Davis Finney Foundation to assist them to raise funds for their objectives.”

Centurion Cycling is launching three events in 2010 slated for Boulder-Lyons, Colorado; Middleton, Wisconsin; and Blue Mountains, Ontario. Centurion Colorado kicks off the series on July 17-18, 2010. Centurion Wisconsin follows on Aug. 7-8, with Centurion Canada completing on September 18-19. On-line registration for all events is now open through the website at www.centurioncycling.com and follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
