April 8, 2005 – The Canadian Cycling Association, the national governing body for the sport of cycling in Canada, is seeking a full-time Director, High Performance Programs to oversee the direction, development and management of national team programs. The CCA is looking for a visionary with strong management and planning skills and extensive cycling experience at the national/international level. This position requires experience in athlete and leadership development, an ability to develop a high performance strategic plan and program, and the ability to work with various stakeholders (i.e., athletes, coaches, National Cycling Centres and program committees).
The ideal candidate will have:
– Experience at the Olympic and World Championship level in a high performance capacity;
– Extensive knowledge and understanding of cycling programs, practices and elite performance models used by successful cycling nations;
– Experience leading a High Performance program of similar size and scope;
– Proven experience in the selection and management of national team coaches;
– An ability to develop and implement a talent identification strategy;
– An ability to foster good relationships with key partner organizations such as Sport Canada, Provincial Associations, other government agencies and the Canadian Olympic Committee;
– Strong written and oral communication skills (in both official languages);
– A willingness to re-locate anywhere within Canada; and,
– The flexibility to travel nationally and internationally.
