December 17, 2005 – An amendment to last week’s Communications Manager position:
Position Description: The Canadian Cycling Association, the national governing body for the sport of cycling in Canada, is seeking a full-time Communications Manager to develop and execute a strategic communication plan for the association. Working in concert with the Director of Marketing and the Chief Operating Officer the selected candidate will be primarily responsible for developing and coordinating the content for the association’s web site and for implementing a multi-tiered communications strategy.
The successful candidate will:
– develop and coordinate all public relations efforts for the association
– coordinate the day-to-day operations of cycling information
– build media relations to increase coverage of the CCA’s athletes and events
– coordinate the production of all press releases, feature-based cycling stories and other special publications, as needed
– disseminate information, results, success, human interest stories to media and other external communities
– develop and maintain archival information for the association (i.e., individual and team records, major award winners, pictures etc.)
– handle other responsibilities as required in concert with the Director of Marketing
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of successfully implementing similar communications strategies. The CCA is looking for a self-starter with strong written abilities, effective interpersonal skills and experience in public relations. Bilingualism is mandatory and post-secondary education in journalism or communications along with knowledge of cycling will be considered strong assets.
