February 5, 2004 – Roland Green will look to be the first rider to be named “King of the Mountains” in consecutive years at the upcoming Tour de Langkawi in Malaysia. Green took home the Red Polka Dot Jersey in last year's race and will lead a strong Canadian team into this year's contest.
“The main goal is for the Canadian riders to accumulate as many UCI points as we can. The team is capable and very experienced to place a rider high overall, and be very competitive with the bigger trade teams” said Green, the defending National MTB Champion.
Green has faith that the team (Eric Wohlberg, Dominique Perras, Charles Dionne, Cory Lange, Peter Wedge and Alexandre Lavallee) will be very competitive and has nothing but praise for his teammates. “I think each rider brings a lot of experience and we all know each other very well. Peter is a solid rider with a lot of experience. Dominique is a great climber and brings European trade team experience to the team. Alex is a very strong and unselfish rider. Eric is the hardest working and most consistent rider known to the cycling world. Cory is improving so fast that we may see him atop the podium within a couple of years and is a strong stage racer. Finally, Charles is a great sprinter and capable of winning any stage in which a sprint is featured.”
