March 7, 2004 – The “Leap Year” weekend saw many new and familiar faces arriving from all parts of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Quebec and the USA. With riders ranging in age from five to 50, the CCA BMX Canada Cup Series started off with a bang with over 200 riders both days. Each race had over 40 motos – a 15% increase of ridership from last year! All of the riders showed terrific enthusiasm for the upcoming race season and the racing this weekend was outstanding!

The Pro-Elite Classes highlighted Cory Banks, who took first both days in Pro-Elite Men with Kurt Pascheit coming in for a close second, and Pro-Elite Cruiser saw Aaron Lepp take first for both days. Young hotshot Scott Erwood placed first both days for 17-29 Yr Old Expert Boys and the 30 year old & Over Expert Male Title went to BMX-of-all-trades Kevin O'Brien. The Factory Team title went to ProWorks for both days and B.C. won the Provincial Team Title for the two races. For results please see http://www.cycling.bc.ca.

Canada Cup number three and four are at Ridge Meadows BMX Track in B.C., June 5 & 6. The Sunday Canada Cup  doubles as a UCI Continental Points race for Pro-Elite Classes.  Good luck and good racing!
