CCA Announces Sport Team Selection Advisory Group Nominations

March 8, 2010 (Ottawa, ON) – The Canadian Cycling Association is pleased to announce Sport Team Selection Advisory Group nominations. The role of the Sport Team Advisory Groups will be to support and advise the National Sport Coach with regard to national squad and Team selection. It will be the responsibility of the National Sport Coach to work with each Advisory Group to select, based on the published selection criterion, the individuals for a particular project and/or campaign from the wider national Pool.

The appointed members will serve a two year term. Members may not serve more than three (3) consecutive two year terms.

The following is a brief introduction of these group members per cycling sport:

Paracyling:
– In search of 2 candidates.

Road:

Matthew Barth:
– Team Manager Symmetrics Pro Cycling Team
– Team Manager Trek Red Truck Cycling Team
– Advisor and organizer BC Super week events
– Past competitive international road cyclist
– Mentor and advisor to many high profile Canadian Athletes
– Successful business owner

Jean-Francois Laroche:
– National team member in the 1990’s
– Competed on both the road and MTB
– Lawyer at Stikeman Elliott

Track:

Jeremy Storie:
– National Team as a pool coach for the past two years
– Director for the Symmetrics Professional road cycling team between 2002 and 2004
– Program Coordinator and Head Coach at the Burnaby Velodrome and have been head organizer of the past two National Track Championships as well as three additions of the Burnaby Six Day
– Competed at the National level and was a multi-time National Championship medalist on the track in Team Pursuit, Madison, and Points Race.
– High school teacher by profession.
– In the process of acquiring NCCP Level 4 coaching certificate

Tanya Dubnicoff:
– World championship track medalist
– Olympian
– Pan Am Games medalist
– Track program coach Los Angeles
– Head coach at Calgary Olympic Oval for numerous years
– Business woman
– In the process of acquiring NCCP Level 4 coaching certificate

Mountain Bike:

Warren Lister:
– High Performance Director- New Zealand Cycling Federation Jan. 2003 to Dec. 2004
– Coached the cycling teams at Saskatchewan, Western Canada, and Canada Games.
– Played a key leadership role in building an Association capable of surviving a variety of economic conditions.

Dr Aroussen Laflamme D.C. CCSP. Chiropraticien:
– National level racer in Canada and in the United States
– Doctor in chiropractic with a certification in sport by the Chiropractic Council of sport Physician (CCSP).
– Personal trainer in body-building
– Health columnist for the “Association de velo de montagne Qubec-Chaudiere-Appalaches”

BMX:

Bruno Vachon:
– Bachelors in Sport intervention/ sports administration at Université Laval
– Assistant coach at Le Centre national de cyclisme de Québec (CNCQ) comme
– BMX technical director at the FQSC

Brendan Arnold
– World Class BMX rider
– High Performance Manager at Ontario Cycling Association
