CCA 2005 AGM — New President Elected

November 27, 2005 (Whitehorse, Yukon) — The CCA has voted for change electing Quebec’s Pierre W. Blanchard as its new president for a 3-yr. term. Blanchard, the president of the Quebec Cycling Federation (FQSC) since 2002, won over current CCA President Bill Kinash.

Kinash from Saskatchewan saw the CCA through some tubulent times during his tenure, including important events such as a successful Hamilton 2003 Road Worlds, and the restructuring of the CCA’s office with the appointment of Steve Lacelle as CEO, Mike Adams as Director of Finance and Administration, and Kim Sebrango as Director of Marketing.

Blanchard, a physician and Director of Medical Education, has a long list of cycling credentials including UCI International Commissaire, member of the UCI MTB Commission, head instructor for UCI International Commissaires, UCI Antidoping and Medical Inspector, and he is also a UCI Medical Expert. In total Blachard has officiated at more the 50 international and domestic events and won the 2004 Sports Quebec “Official of the Year” Award for all sports.

Blanchard’s international experience was an important consideration for many delegates. In his pre-vote speech Blanchard said he’s known for delivering on his promises and his management style is to consult, listen, and reach concesus before deciding a course of action.

– MTB Rep (2 yrs): Jim Bratrud (acclaimed)

Athlete and Coach Development Committee
– Chair (2 yrs): Lister Farrar (acclaimed)
– Road/Track Rep (2 yrs): Francis Paradis (acclaimed)
– BMX Rep (2 yrs): Jeff Ingram elected

Events Committee
– MTB Rep (2 yrs): Kevin McCuish (acclaimed)
– BMX Rep (2 yrs): Mathieu Boucher elected
