November 4, 2002 – Award-winning production house DIVERSUS is proud to announce the CBC airing of Women Warriors – a new television series which reveals the ferocious spirit and life-long sacrifice it takes to be a champion. This unique ten-part series profiles one remarkable Canadian athlete each week and is scheduled to air on CBC every Saturday at 12:30 pm (ET) from November 2 – January 4, 2003. The series will also appear on WTSN – the new digital women's sports network and CFCF 12 Montreal. Unlike conventional sports profiles, Women Warriors seeks to uncover the woman behind the athletic powerhouse. Through interviews with team-mates, friends, family and in-depth interviews with the athletes, each half hour episode embraces the accomplishments, struggles and choices which make up the world of today's elite Olympian.

They speak about everything from their triumphs and fears as athletes to their hopes for the future – to critical decisions about relationships and family.”

Women Warriors was produced by the innovative team at DIVERSUS – a creative production company with a vision to produce quality programming from a variety of viewpoints. DIVERSUS was nominated for a 2001 Gemini for the film Too Colourful for the League profiling black hockey players in North America and have been at the center of world-wide buzz concerning their off-beat feature documentary, Schmelvis — a story which unfolds around a mission to uncover Elvis Presley's Jewish roots. In the fall (Premiere on November 19th), DIVERSUS will also be releasing a CBC Life & Times on Canada's greatest poet, Irving Layton entitled A Red Carpet for the Sun. Women Warriors will run on Saturdays, from 12:30-13:00PM, on the following dates:
