September 30, 2010 – Canada’s top female XC mountain biker and 2010 World Cup Series Champion, Catharine Pendrel (Luna Pro Team) celebrates her 30th birthday today. Pendrel, who lives in Kamloops, B.C. with her husband, Keith Wilson, and three cats, was born in Fredericton, NB to Johanna Bertin and Bruce Pendrel in 1980. She wrapped up her best season yet at the 2010 UCI MTB World Championships earlier this month at Mont-Sainte-Anne, QC, placing fourth.
With two World Cup victories this year, including her first win in Europe, and two other podiums, Pendrel secured the Elite Women’s World Cup Series overall title, having placed third in 2009. She grabbed the world’s attention in 2008 at the Beijing Olympics when she finished an impressive fourth, after riding for much of the race in the bronze medal position.
Congratulations, Kika, on a fantastic season and best wishes on your birthday from everyone at Pedal!
