Cat. 1 & 2 Cyclists Needed For Study

June 9, 2004 – Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Center is looking for experienced cyclists who are racing at a Category 1 or 2 level to participate in an exercise physiology study. Both males and females are welcome. The test will evaluate the reliability of an electronically braked cycle ergometer. Volunteers that take part in this study will be asked to come to the lab, located on the UBC grounds, on four different occasions. Each visit to the laboratory will last approximately 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. On day one, you will be required to perform a VO2 test. Each subsequent day you will be required to perform a 20K time trial using the Velotron Pro cycle trainer. The total time commitment is approximately 4.5 hours over the course of two weeks.

By participating in this study, you will receive a free VO2 test, a time trial evaluation, which includes power output, and an interpretation that you can incorporate into your training plan.
