March 4, 2007 (Montreal, QC) — In order to improve its selection and coaching to encourage the Quebec’s best female cycling talent, the Cascades Team is modifying its existing program by adding elite and junior divisions. With the new structure, the team will be able to create a better bridge from an amateur to a professional level. You can follow the team this season at www.equipecascades.com
The elite team of six women cyclists will compete at the Canadian road championships, the Montreal Road World Cup, the Tour du Grand Montreal, Vermont’s Green Mountain Stage Race, the Tour of PEI as well as many other national and regional events. Maxime Caron will coach the elite women’s team for a second year.
The junior team, coached by Marie- Michele Richard, will participate with the elite riders as much possible to help them learn the ropes. Besides competing at national and regional events, they will participate in Quebec’s Tour Espoir.
The team’s mission is to promote women’s cycling and the sport division continues and is composed of riders who will participate in regional races.
