July 18, 2012 (Bend, Oregon) – Kristin Armstrong (Exergy-Twenty12) topped the women’s field in the opening Tetherow Prologue 4.5km on Tuesday over Alison Powers (NOW and Novartis for MS) in second and Jacquelyn Crowell (Exergy TWENTY12). Anne Samplonius (NOW and Novartis for MS) was the top Canuck in 4th. Armstrong win signaled she back on track following her injury at the Exergy Tour in May where she broke her collarbone.

In the men’s race it was Optum-Kelly Benefit Strategies’ Chad Haga taking the win over Spain’s Francisco Mancebo (Competitive Cyclist). Robert Sweeting (Kenda/5hr Energy p/b Geargrinder) claimed third while Canadian Marsh Cooper, Haga’s teammate was 39th. The Cascade Cycling Classic runs from July 17-22.
