Carding and National Team List Update

release by the CCA

October 25, 2010 – As you may or may not know the “carding season” has arrived and you as athletes are required to submit results to your CCA sport coordinators that would warrant you qualifying for Sport Canada AAP card. You are asked to submit your results using the application form that can be found on the CCA website in the “athlete’s assistance” section. In most cases you have until Friday October 29th to submit your results using the CCA application form for carding.

When filling out the form please do so diligently as it is your responsibility to properly write down your results qualifying you for a card. Once the different sport coordinators have compiled the applications they will then be reviewed by myself and the High Performance Committee in November. Using the priorization mentioned in the carding documents athletes will be announced and then nominated to Sport Canada in early December.

Once nominated athletes have filled and sent out the different agreements to both Sport Canada and CCA they will commence receiving payments in the next calendar year.

With regards to naming athletes to the national team please be advised that there will be no lists published until all we’ve received confirmation from Sport Canada of the athletes having met carding criteria and who will be receiving AAP carding for the next carding cycle. That said, the naming of the national team list will not happen before the 1st few weeks of January 2011.

I thank you in advance for your understanding and professionalism.

Yours in cycling,

Jacques Landry
High Performance Director/Head Coach
