Canadians Racing in Europe – Canuel Wins in France + An Post Rás in Ireland

May 21, 2013 (Arnac La Poste, France) – Canadians were racing in Europe this past weekend and Karol-Ann Canuel (Vienne-Futuroscope) took her first victory of the season on stage 2 of the Boucles Arnacoises Féminines, at Arnac La Poste in France in a 83km road race on Sunday afternoon in cold rain to lock up the GC as well reports the Abitibi Express. This followed a 3rd place finish for Canuel in the time trial on Sunday morning where she finished the 7.5km in 10:35, 5 seconds behind winner Lucie Pader (Bourgogne Prodialog) and Mélodie Lesueur (BigMat-Auber93) in second. Thanks to her win in the RR, Canuel also won the GC. Canuel’s next race is the Grand Prix Plumelec-Morbihan on May 25.

Four Canadian men are also competing at the An Post Rás stage race in Ireland. With two of eight stages completed, Kristofer Dahl (Can) Canadian National Team is the top Canuck in the GC, holding 33rd place followed by Remi Pelletier-Roy (Can) Canadian National Team in 35th, Garrett McLeod (Can) Canadian National Team in 52nd, and Stuart Wight (Can) Canadian National Team in 96th place. There are currently 176 riders in the field.
