Canadians at 2009 UCI World Trials in Australia

by pedalmag.com

September 4, 2009 (Canberra, Australia) – Three Canadians are competing at the 2009 UCI Trials World Championships running parallel with the MTB Championships in Canberra, Australia. The Canucks entered in the contest are Steve Dickin (Can), Jeff Anderson (Can), and John Webster, (Can) – all three of whom hail from B.C.

This is Webster’s first UCI competition, but he has already seen success on the BIU stage (the “other” governing body for Trials). On August 28 at the 2009 BIU World Championships in Ping Tang, China, he placed second in the Senior class, thereby qualifying for Elite next year, the first Canadian ever to do so. Anderson placed sixth and Dickin took seventh in the contest.

The UCI Trials Worlds qualifying rounds have been going on all week with the Final medal rounds taking place this weekend. After Canberra, the boys are off to compete at the UCI World Cup in Rotorua, New Zealand: www.ucitrialsrotoruanz.com.
