Canadian Track Team Update from LA

release by the CCA

September 27, 2010 (Los Angeles, CA) – Here’s the latest from Canadian Track Team now based in Seal Beach, California and training in Los Angeles at the Home Depot Velodrome for the upcoming 2010-11 Track World Cup season and the Track Worlds at the end of March – here is a report from team member Monique Sullivan.

I am here at the new team house in Seal Beach, CA, doing my final preparations for the Commonwealth Games next week. I have been to California for training many times before but I’ve never stayed in such a nice place! We are half a block from the beach in a really nice house.

I have been training really hard and when the fatigue settles in it makes a big difference to have a familiar place to come home to relax, and not have to go back to a hotel. It also makes a big difference to have people around to motivate you. On hard days I use their energy to stay focused and motivated. – Monique Sullivan

Canadian Track Team Update from LA

release by the CCA

September 23, 2010 (Los Angeles, CA) – Here’s the latest from Canadian Track Team now based in Seal Beach, California and training in Los Angeles at the Home Depot Velodrome for the upcoming 2010-11 Track World Cup season and the Track Worlds at the end of March – here are reports from team members Scott Mulder, Joe Veloce, and Stéphane Cossette.

So far my time spent in Seal Beach has been very enjoyable. I have spent the days alternating between hard track sessions, recovering and working out in the gym. I can already feel the benefits of being in this kind of environment, I feel privileged to be given this chance. I am very excited to see where this quality of training and healthy competition can take me in the future. – Scott Mulder

The team sprint has made the move to California! We’ve been training and living together for the past week, and are all getting accustomed to the intense track sessions, and double days. Every session we are pushing each other to go faster, and we’re all feeling the benefits of training on a world class track as a team already. Richard and Tanya have been helping us on the track, while Ron has been helping us in the gym, perfecting our darn nice squats and of course John has been running wild helping everyone at once. The house is amazing, and only blocks away from the beach, meaning that the entire team is looking forward to our rest day tomorrow and riding our beach cruisers. Thank you for making this happen for us we are very lucky. – Joe Veloce

Hi everyone – the first week was a bit of adaptation! I have been taking things easier since the Track Nationals but its good to get restarted hard AGAIN! The house and ambiance here is pretty nice! It’s much more easier to perform when we have facilities like this – thanks to everyone – cheers – Stéphane Cossette
