Position: Brand Marketing Assistant
Job Description:
The COC is seeking a dynamic individual to join its Marketing department in the Toronto office. The primary responsibility of this position will be to assist the Brand Marketing function lead, as well as the areas of marketing and brand, including research, and communication with internal and external partners. The position will support the COC Marketing Team as we head into the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the marketing strategies for the post-Vancouver 2010 period. The position will include administrative duties to support the Executive Director (ED), Brand Marketing and other duties as assigned from time to time.
Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Brand Marketing
• Assist with brand marketing presentations
• Analyze and organize marketing research
• With a complete understanding of the COC brand, assist team with approvals where necessary
• Support the Canadian Olympic Team marketing initiatives
• Assist with communication to internal and external stakeholders on COC marketing and branding initiatives, including the National Sport Federations, sponsors and agencies.
• Manage the respective brand marketing budgets
• Stay on top of marketing related current events
• Liaise with other departments/teams within the COC including the Sport team in Ottawa, the Marketing team in Montreal and the Communications and Operations teams in Toronto
Project Management
• Coordinate and assist with management of all brand marketing projects: internal, video, marketing executions, advertising and others
• Liaise with suppliers and vendors
• Oversee supplier contracts
Administrative Support
• Administrative support to the Executive Director for Brand Marketing
• Manage ED, BM’s calendar and meetings
• Arrange and coordinate EDs’ travel and expenses
Knowledge and Skill Required
• 2-4 years of strong executive administrative support experience
• University degree in Marketing, Sport Management, or related field
• Marketing experience, either as an employee or through school work terms/ coop positions/internships
• Strong verbal and written communications skills. Bilingualism (French, English) is an asset
• Strong time management skills to meet deadlines and deploy resources in areas that have greatest positive impact on results
• Self starter and ability to work effectively within a team concept
• Ability to maintain balance between vision and attention to detail
• Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with various internal and external colleagues/stakeholders
• Strong computer software expertise required, including Power Point, Word, Excel, Outlook. Microsoft Project expertise is an asset
