September 14, 2010 (Blue Mountains, ON) – In just over a week in The Blue Mountains, the inaugural Centurion Canada Cycling event will take place. The weekend of September 18th – 19th will see Canadian Olympic Gold Medalists Simon Whitfield and Adam Van Koeverden leading the Centurion participants through the scenic and challenging course. Whitfield was the 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist in the triathlon while Van Koeverden earned gold and silver medals at the Athens Olympics in 2004 in the sport of kayaking, both went on to claim another Olympic medal in Beijing.
Centurion Canada will also welcome other celebrities to the event, which includes a 25, 50 and 100 miles courses. Hockey greats Bob Nystrom and Mike Richter will take on the challenge of the 25 and 100 mile rides and Ironman legend Paula Newby-Fraser will be lined up for the start of the 25-mile ride alongside Mayor Ellen Anderson of the Town of The Blue Mountains.
