Canadian MTB Team Makes it to UCI MTB World Cup #1 in England

April 23, 2010 – After a week of travel disruption around Europe, caused by Eyjafjallajokull, the Icelandic Valcano, several members of the Canadian National MTB team have managed to make it to various locations in Europe from which they will travel to Dalby Forest in North Yorkshire England for the first round of the UCI MTB World Cup.

Athletes have traveled by all forms of transportation including planes, trains, boats and automobiles in their quest to reach the start line. After tireless work by CCA staff and athletes themselves, four of the seven athletes and the three staff on the project, have either made it to Europe or will arrive in time for the race on Sunday. The three remaining athletes will stay home and begin their travels to Europe meeting the up with the team in Houffalize, Belgium on Monday.

The Spring European World Cup Project is being lead by National Team coach Dan Proulx, athletes will first compete at the Dalby Forest World Cup. The team will then travel to Belgium where they will compete in the 2nd round of the UCI MTB World Cup at Houffalize.
