Canadian MTB Championships Mega Mountain Bike Week Kicks Off July 16 + Sneak Peak Vid

July 15, 2013 (Barrie, ON) – Don’t miss the head-to-head racing and nail-biting action as four Olympians vie for valuable points and the Canadian MTB Championship titles. Who will become the next national champ and get to wear the jersey for Canada?  Don’t miss this exciting event that attracts hundreds of riders!  The Mega Mountain Bike Week from July 16-21 offers exciting action for spectators and bike enthusiasts of all ages – and it’s right here within an hour of Toronto!

Barrie Family Fun Ride (with the pros!)
WHEN: Tuesday, July 16th
6:00pm – The Barrie Family Fun Ride is a family-oriented, fun, mass participant bike ride on the Barrie Waterfront trails.  Everyone from the community is invited to come meet & ride with the Trek Canada Team and Canadian Olympic Cyclist, Emily Batty.  Join us for the ride, refreshments & an athlete autograph session!

Mega Mountain Bike Week VIP Media Event
WHEN: Thursday, July 18th
4:00pm-7:30pm  – Get exciting head-to-head racing action shots…even give mountain biking a try for yourself on the media course!
7:30pm –  Attend the press conference/Q&A session, plus get 1-on-1 interviews with Olympic athletes: Emily Batty, Catharine Pendrel, Geoff Kabush, & Max Plaxton.
WHERE: Hardwood Ski & Bike – 402 Old Barrie Road, Oro, ON, L0L 2E0
Directions – 400 North to Barrie.  Take the 400 extension north of Barrie.  Take the first exit off the 400 extension onto Forbes Rd (exit #111).  Turn left at stop sign – follow Forbes Rd. NE for 10 km.
Hardwood Ski and Bike will be on the left hand side of the road.

1:00 pm – Race Office open for Canadian Championships Eliminator Races (XCE)
4:00 pm – Canadian Championships Eliminator XCE Qualifying
6:00 pm – Canadian Championships Eliminator XCE Heats
7:00 pm – Canadian Championships Eliminator XCE Finals
 
Friday, July 19 – Inspection/pre-riding
9:00 am to 9:00 pm – Courses open for inspection/pre-riding
9:00 am to 5:00 pm – Race Office Open, Registration (Sunday races only), and Package Pick-up/Sign In
5:00 pm – Managers Meeting for Saturday events

Saturday, July 20 – XCO Championships
8:30 am to 5:00 pm –  Race Office Open, Registration and Package Pick-up/Sign In (Sunday races only)
9:00 am – Canadian Championships XCO Race 1 (Jr & U17 Exp Men, Jr &U17 Exp Women)****
