November 12, 2003 – Canadian doctor Maurice Duquette, who on Monday pleaded guilty to improper EPO prescriptions to a number of people, including one unnamed top level cyclist from Montreal, has now admitted he made a mistake in his statements. In fact, Dr. Duquette has now clarified that he did not prescribe EPO to the cyclist in question.
Several media sources are attempting to remove the publication ban – La Presse, The Montreal Gazette, Radio-Canada and now, the Quebec Cycling Federation. However due to doctor-client confidentiality, it seems unlikely this will occur.
