August 24, 2012 (Ottawa, ON) – The 2012 Canadian BMX Championships are just one week away, and Canada’s top domestic event for BMX will bring the top adrenaline seekers to Abbotsford, BC.

The two-day event is slated for Friday, August 31 featuring the Time Trial and seeding runs, and Saturday, September 1 featuring the action-packed BMX motos. Canada’s best riders will be battling for top domestic titles and the coveted Maple Leaf Jersey awarded to the Canadian Champions in each the Junior and Elite categories.
Olympian Tory Nyhaug (Coquitlam, BC) will be defending his two titles won at the 2011 Championships, in both the Time Trial and the BMX race. Nyhaug will be racing in front of his home crowd, on the track he has been training for World Cups and Olympic Games. Also watch for Connor McCormack (Vernon, BC) and Jim Brown (Airdrie, AB), two top contenders along with Nyhaug.
On the women side, Sabrina Millman (Cochrane, AB) will also be on the quest to defend her 2011 titles. Millman also took both titles in the Time Trial and the BMX race.
In addition to the BMX races for Junior and Elite race, the Canadian BMX Championships will bring sport enthusiasts from age 5 all the way to 45+ age categories, challenging for Canadian Challenge titles.
The event in Abbotsford will be held at the Abbotsford BMX Club redesigned track, which includes the Supercross Start Ramp, Canada’s only UCI SuperCross ramp in Canada.
The event in Abbotsford also includes the fifth and final race of the Canada Cup BMX race, on Sunday September 2.
