Canadian 2007 ‘Cross Team Support Update

January 16, 2007 (Ottawa, ON) — At the end of December, we posted a request for financial assistance for the Canadian Cyclocross team. We’ve been humbled by the response and in two weeks have made it more than 3/4 of the way to our goal of $4,000 ($500/rider), with contributions of $3,300 so far. We’ve decided on a cutoff date of January 22, so that we can get the money to the athletes in Belgium.

Clubs take note that Ontario’s Newmarket Eagles have thrown out a $100-challenge for others to contribute to this cause. Several clubs have already responded and we’re hoping a few more will help to finish off the campaign.

The Canadian team, consisting of Mike Garrigan, Kyle Douglas, Tara Ross, Greg Reain, Aaron Schooler, Shaun Adamson, Spencer Smitheman and Brian Robinson are mostly in Belgium already and will be making their way to the Cycling Center in Belgium for Worlds at the end of the month.
