Canada\’s Voice for BMX

July 10, 2003 – The Canadian Cycling Association (CCA) and Pedal Magazine are pleased to announce that they have signed a 2-year agreement in an effort to promote and develop the sport of BMX across Canada. As part of the agreement Pedal will be recognized as “Canada's Voice for BMX” and has launched BMX Canada as a special section in each issue, and will soon develop a BMX Canada section on it's website as well.

The CCA integrated BMX into its national mandate in 2001 and began the process of unifying the sport of BMX across Canada through various programs including the Canada Cup BMX series. With the recent news of BMX being a part of the 2008 Summer Olympics there is more excitement brewing.

“The CCA is proud to be a part of the development of BMX across the country. That BMX will be part of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing is fabulous news, and we're very pleased to work with Pedal Magazine in promoting and developing the sport and our athletes who are some of the best in the world,” said Loyal Ma, head of the CCA's National BMX Committee.

Pedal Magazine's publisher/editor, Benjamin Sadavoy, echoed Ma's comments. “BMX is an exciting sport and we look forward to working with the CCA and BMX communities across Canada to help it grow. The fact that BMX will soon be an Olympic sport is great news for everyone involved,” he said.

Pedal will provide regular coverage of the BMX scene across Canada including race reports, athlete profiles and the CCA's BMX programs in its BMX Canada section in each issue.
