Canada’s Simms Bounces Back With Another 4th

December 28, 2007 (Loenhout, Belgium) – Wendy Simms (Kona-Yor Key Mortgage Team) husband Normon Thibault sent us the following comments following Simms 4th place today in Loenhout, Belgium.

Wendy was pretty bummed out after her 18th place at the UCI Cyclocross World Cup #7 on Dec. 26. She told me that she had “no legs” and that she just felt like she was fighting the bike. Well, when she wanted to clean and inspect her bike yesterday she admitted that noone does bike prep like Mark Matson. Her brake pads were rubbing and her rear DR hanger was somehow bent enough so that it was rubbing against the chain as well. This could have been the problem, or it might have had something to do with doing three races in a row right off the plane.

She also had a big disappointment that same day as her traveling partner, Barb Howe, tore her Achilles tendon and had to have surgery on it.

Anyways I have not heard from her yet today but it looks like she had a much better race today at Azencross in Loenhout, Belgium – a 4th place. Her 4th top-5 in five races (Krista get this in the paper!!!). This is a course that we always have watched on DVD’s as it has a couple of BMX table tops as well as a section of around 15 whoops…..pretty cool!

Anyways here are some pictures here of her. As well there are some pictures of her from the world cup here.

Hopefully she will also have something posted on her blog this weekend – www.wendysimms.blogspot.com. I think she is racing again tomorrow…..will try to keep everyone posted. I hope everyone had a great couple of days for Christmas.

Normon
