November 20, 2007 – Twelve young international cyclo-cross athletes and three coaches had the opportunity to train at the World Cycling Centre (WCC) in Aigle, Switzerland last week. Their week-long training camp culminated Sunday, November 18 with the international Class 2 cyclocross event at the WCC.
The athletes and coaches are under the guidance of former professional cyclo-cross athlete, and three-time World Champion, Mike Kluge, of Germany. The aim of the training camp is to develop the technical aspects of their sport and to help the athletes prepare major competitions.
The 10 male and two female athletes from Canada, Great Britain, the Czech Republic and Switzerland have already gained international racing experience. The two Czech participants, Jiri Polnicky (17 years) and Lukas Kloucek (20 years) have competed in legs of the UCI 2007-2008 Cyclo-cross World Cup.
