July 19, 2019 (Pau, France) – Canada’s Leah Kirchmann (Team Sunweb Women) raced to a stellar silver in the 121km La Course by Le Tour today won by Marianne Vos (Ned) CCC-Liv.
Kirchmann took the bunch sprint behind Vos for a well-deserved podium, the second time the Manitoba rider has delivered at La Course. Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (Den) Bigla Pro Cycling Team finished third.
Australian Amanda Spratt thought she had it in the bag after a long solo breakaway, but she was caught and overtaken by Vos with 350 metres to go, at the top of the final wall.
The 32-year-old Dutch rider and the three-time world champion, who won La Course in 2014, is the winner of the sixth edition of the event.
