Canada’s Foreman-Mackey Sets Personal Best 6th in Women’s Individual Pursuit at Track Worlds on Day 4

March 02, 2019 (Pruszkow, Poland) – Canada’s Annie Foreman-Mackey set a personal best to finish sixth in the women’s Individual Pursuit 3000 metre competition on Day 4 of the UCI Track World Championships in Pruszkow, Poland. Australia’s Ashlee Ankudinoff won gold over Lisa Brennauer (Ger), the defending champ, by a 3+second margin with Lisa Klein (Ger) taking the bronze.

Multi-time national track champ, Derek Gee competed in the men’s Omnium where he was 17th in the Scratch Race, 10th in the Tempo Race and 20th in the Elmination Race. He recovered somewhat in the final Point Race and moved up from 20th to 15th overall behind winner Campbell Stewart from New Zealand.

Marred by several crashes, Canada’s Kinley Gibson hit the deck as well after another rider crashed in her path forcing her and teammate Allison Beveridge to abandon. The good news is that Gibson was ok and will be back on the bike soon.

Hugo Barrette qualified 19th in the men’s sprint competition while teammate Joel Archambault, at his first Track Worlds, just missed making the heats as he qualified 29th as only the top 28 riders advance. Barrette won his 1/16th final heat but lost to Mateusz Rudyk (Pol) in a close 1/8th final and was out.
