July 14, 2019 (Les Gets, FRA) – Reigning Canadian U23 champ, Sean Fincham (Norco Factory Team), delivered a career-first UCI MTB World Cup podium claiming third in the U23 Men’s race on Sunday morning. Team Canada’s Laurie Arseneault led the charge for the Canucks in the Under-23 woman’s competition finishing 14th.
The 7-lap U23 Men’s 26.6km race saw four leaders with Fincham on board. As the pace quickened on the fifth lap led by eventual winner and World Cup leader, Vlad Dascalu (Rou) Brujula Bike Racing Team, only Maximilian Brandl (Ger) kept pace.Fincham battled Filippo Colombo (Sui) BMC Mountainbike Racing Team for the final podium spot for a historic result as Dascalu took the win over Brandl.
Canadian rider, Raphael Auclair (Pivot Cycles-OTE), raced to his top result of the season finishing 15th while Quinton Disera (Norco Factory) was 33rd.Ronja Eibl (Ger) Corendon – Circus won the 6-lap U23 Women’s 21.6km race over Evie Richards (Gbr) Trek Factory Racing XC in second with Laura Stigger (Aut) third. Team Canada’s Sophianne Samson was 23rd, Mackenzie Myatt was 41st and Juliette Tetreault placed 45th.
