Canada’s Fincham 10th in U23 Men’s MTB World Cup Race at Albstadt

May 18, 2019 (Albstadt, Germany) – B.C.’s Sean Fincham (Norco Factory Team), the reigning Canadian U23 champ, took home a strong 10th-place finish in the U23 Men’s 26.6km race at the UCI MTB World Cup in Albstadt, Germany.Fincham raced with the lead group until the final laps when the pace picked up and that attacks started. As high as 7th he held on for a top-10 result. Swiss rider, Filippo Colombo (BMC), took his first victory in a tight finish with Romainian Vlad Dascalu in second and Antoine Philipp from France in third. Fellow Canuck, Raphael Auclair (Pivot-OTE) finished 42nd, Quinton Disera (Norco Factory) was 56th, Gunner Holmgren (Team Canada) placed 66th, Tyler Orschel (Team Canada) was 75th and Victor Verreault (Independant) finished 111th. “It was my first time starting at the front, on the second row, which was pretty exciting,” said Fincham. “I was able to sit in the top ten and hang out for most of the race. Attacks started to go with three laps to go, and I couldn’t quite hold on.”
