December 4, 2005 – Canada’s Clara Hughes – a former professional cyclist and Olympic medallist – won gold yesterday in the women’s 5000m, in the fourth round of the long track speed skating World Cup circuit. Hughes beat Germany’s Claudia Pechstein, with fellow Canuck Cindy Klassen rounding out the podium.
