June 05, 2015 (Gatineau, QC) – Canada’s Karol-Ann Canuel (Velocio SRAM) led the Canadian charge claiming second in the 11.5km Chrono Gatineau ITT as Carmen Small (USA) Twenty16 p/b Sho-Air proved unbeatable again with a decisive victory having won here in 2013 when she debuted on the course.
Last year’s winner, Tayler Wiles (USA), who is Canuel’s teammate, grabbed the final podium spot. Renowned Tara Whitten (Can) Team OPUS – The Cyclery, who is back on the circuit on the comeback trail, finished 8th while Jasmin Glaesser (Can) Team OPTUM p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies made the top 10 placing 10th.
Ganna Solovei (Ukr) Équipe Nationale Ukraine set the time to beat on the winding course that held until Canuel set the bar higher, but was no match for Small who won TT bronze at the 2013 Road Worlds in Florence, Italy. Wiles settled for third noting that “…the competition was much stiffer this year.”
“I’m really happy with my result here at home,” commented Canuel who’s time trialing has made significant gains in recent years. “I’ve been working on my TT so it’s great to see I’m getting better with help from my team as well.”
Small loves coming to Canada and was pleased with her effort. “It’s always great coming to Canada and I like the course here so I’m happy to repeat my win. It’s also a great build up to the upcoming Road Worlds in Richmond,” said Small.
