Canada’s Boivin Takes Stellar 2nd Overall at Vuelta a Castilla y Leon

April 27, 2019 (Spain) – Canada’s Guillaume Boivin (Israel Cycling Academy) won the Sprints Classification en route to second overall at the Vuelta a Castilla y Leon that wrapped up today in Spain with the final 151.8km Stage 3 road race from Leon to Villafranca del Bierzo. Boivin’s teammate Davide Cimolai (Israel Cycling Academy) took the overall victory winning the first two stages.

Boivin looked stellar in the first two stages, taking 8th on the opening 181 km Stage 1 after a bunch sprint. He moved into second overall finishing just off the podium in 4th on the second stage from Fromista to Villada,170.3 km, after getting into a break for most of the day.

Davide Cimolai Wins GC
The lone Canuck at the three-day stage race in the northwestern region of Spain he took home the silver medal placing 27th on the final stage of the tour with the same time as the winner. Jerome Cousin (Fra) Direct Energie claimed the final spot on the final GC podium taking third overall.
