June 10, 2007 (Gersheim, Germany) – Guillaume Boivin (EVA/Devinci), riding as part of Canada’s junior national team, continued to do well at the Trofeo Karlsberg yesterday (Saturday) which featured two stages. Boivin placed 21st in the individual 8.6km TT from Reinheim to Habkirchen, followed by a 10th place finish in the 77km road circuit from Völklingen to Großrosseln.
In the TT, Boivin was 45 seconds behind the winner, Dominick Nerz (Germany) while in the road race, Boivin was 19 seconds back from leader Ricky Jorgensen (Denmark). Boivin is presently in 16th position overall at 1:50.
Today the Trofeo Karlsberg concludes with a mountainous, 7-lap, 134km road circuit that begins and ends in Niedergalbach. A total of 126 cyclists from 22 teams are competing in the Trofeo Karlsberg, including 14 national teams. Most of the participants are from Europe, but Canada and Kazakhstan are also represented by national teams.
