December 16, 2006 — Canada’s Zach Bell (Whitehorse, YK, residing in Kingston, ON) Â finished in ninth place today in the men’s 30K points race at the Moscow UCI Track World Cup, repeating his result from Friday in the individual pursuit.
Bell was active from the start, picking up a point in the first sprint, then taking a maximum five points in the second.
He continued to take points in sprints throughout the race, finishing with a total of 12, the same tally as riders in 7th and 8th who beat Bell to the finish line.
The top five riders all gained a lap and the race was eventually won by Russia’s Olympic Champion Mikhail Ignatyev, also the winner at the Sydney UCI World Cup #1 last month, who collected 46 points overall. The podium was completed by Vasil Kiryienka (BLR) in second and Oleksandr Polivoda (ISD) in third.
