August 2, 2003 (Calgary, AB) – Jesse Jakomait (Team Hardwood Hills), who placed third in the Elite Men's race, summed up the 7.2-kilometre course in one word: “intense.” It was dry, dusy and wound through Calgary's Canada Olympic Park, using what seemed like every available climb. The numerous ascents were short, yet steep, and definitely took a toll on racers' legs.

Luckily the weather forecast (sunny and 32 degrees Celsius) was wrong. High cloud meandered over the city all day, keeping temperatures a little cooler than expected.

Peter Wedge (Kona/Clarks) did not win handily. He took the gold (in the form of a large inscribed belt buckle) by only two seconds. In the Elite Women's race, National Champion Marie-Helene Premont (Oryx/Procycle) had a more comfortable gap of just under three minutes over second place. Max Plaxton(GearsRacing.com), wearing his newly acquired National Champion jersey, bested the Junior Men's field yet again for his fourth Canada Cup win. There was a big upset in the Junior Women's race. Olivia Gagne (Club Cycliste Beauport) won, breaking Emily Batty's (Bay Cycle/3 Rox) four-race winning streak.
